Getting to the Inquest
The inquest is taking place at the Brit Oval in Kennington (click on map to enlarge).
By Car - The Oval is situated on the A202, near the junction with the A3 and A24, just south of Vauxhall Bridge and 10 minues from Victoria and Waterloo. Little parking is available at or in the vicinity of the ground and it is advisable to use public transport.
By Underground - Take the Northern Line from the City or central London to the Oval tube station. The main entrance to the ground is 100 metres on your left on leaving the station. The ground is also a ten minute walk from Vauxhall tube station on the Victoria line.
By Rail - Take South West Trains to Vauxhall station which is a short walk from the Oval. The station is well served by trains throughout Surrey and Hampshire as well as from the Greater London area. For more information on rail services visit London Transport
By Bus - Route numbers 36, 185 and 436 stop outside the ground and other local services stop around the corner. The following buses set down within a 5-minute walk of the ground, 3, 109, 133, 159, 333. For more information on the buses visit London Buses
By Bike - Limited bicycle parking is available at the Oval.
Seating
Seats for the court will be decided on a first come first served basis. One-day seating passes for the court will be available from outside the Oval at 9:00am. Given the size of the courtroom (and the need to accommodate interested persons, the jury and media representatives), space will be limited. Additional accommodation with audio and visual links to the court is available in the court annex.
One-day passes are available from 9.00am at a turnstile near the Hobbs Gate.
On days when the inquest is sitting, members of the public should enter the Oval Conference Centre via the Alec Stewart Gate if they have a one-day pass, or via the Hobbs Gate to get to the court annex (Long Room). The gates will open approximately 30 minutes before the inquest begins.
Those attending the inquest should note that both the courtroom and the court annex are subject to the same restrictions as would apply to normal court proceedings. When the court is sitting the use of mobile telephones, blackberries, recording equipment, cameras and personal stereos is strictly prohibited. Smoking eating and drinking is also restricted to designated areas within the Oval Conference Centre complex.
